Savina Teubal read Genesis as a historian of women, not only as liturgy. Sarah the Priestess (1984) argued that the first matriarch belonged to an older sacred order the later text only partly hid.
She founded Sarah’s Tent in Los Angeles, a space for Jewish feminist ritual and learning. The scholarship and the congregation were the same project.
