Michael De Luca (born August 13, 1965) is an American film producer, screenwriter, and studio executive renowned for his influential roles in Hollywood, including as president of production at New Line Cinema and co-chair and CEO of Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group.

De Luca grew up in Brooklyn, New York, where his father worked for Con Edison, and he studied film at New York University in the mid-1980s. While studying at New York University, he joined New Line Cinema as an intern, rising to become president of production in 1993 at the age of 27, during which he greenlit landmark films such as Se7en (1995), Boogie Nights (1997), and the Austin Powers series. His tenure at New Line ended in 2001 amid reported internal conflicts, after which he served as head of production at DreamWorks SKG from 2001 to 2004, overseeing live-action projects.

Transitioning to independent producing, De Luca earned three Academy Award nominations for Best Picture—for The Social Network (2010), Moneyball (2011), and Captain Phillips (2013)—establishing him as a key figure in critically acclaimed dramas. He also co-produced the 89th Academy Awards ceremony in 2017. In 2020, De Luca was appointed chairman of the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Motion Picture Group, guiding the studio through the COVID-19 pandemic with releases like No Time to Die (2021), before departing in 2022.

Since June 2022, De Luca has co-chaired Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group alongside Pamela Abdy, overseeing Warner Bros. Pictures, New Line Cinema, and Warner Bros. Pictures Animation, with their contracts renewed in October 2025 following successful releases like Sinners and Minecraft. Under his leadership, the division has emphasized diverse slate programming, contributing to Warner Bros. Discovery's box office recovery in 2025.

In brief

Michael De Luca has held more letterheads than most careers have chapters. New Line, DreamWorks, MGM, Warner — the titles change; the job is always taste plus nerve.

He is also a writer and producer, which helps. The executives who last are the ones who can still hear a story in a room before the marketing deck arrives.
