Full articleMatthew Senreich (born June 17, 1974) is an American screenwriter, television producer, director, and voice actor best known as the co-creator and executive producer of the Emmy-winning Adult Swim animated series Robot Chicken.
Born in Long Island, New York, Senreich grew up in the area and attended Herricks High School, graduating in 1992. He later earned a bachelor's degree in history from Wesleyan University in 1996, where he developed an interest in entertainment through campus connections and early networking efforts.
Senreich began his career in the entertainment industry with internships at Marvel Comics in 1991 and other comic book publishers, followed by a role as Editorial Director at Wizard Entertainment starting in 1996. In 2005, he co-created Robot Chicken with Seth Green, pioneering stop-motion animation sketches that parodied pop culture, which became Adult Swim's longest-running series and earned multiple Primetime Emmy Awards, including for Outstanding Short-Format Animated Program in 2010. In 2025, the series marked its 20th anniversary with a new special on Adult Swim. In 2011, Senreich co-founded Stoopid Buddy Stoodios in Burbank, California, with Green, John Harvatine IV, and Eric Towner, expanding into original content like Dinosaur Office and SuperMansion, while continuing to produce innovative animation across stop-motion, 2D, and 3D formats.
In brief
Senreich came to television as a writer and editor with a deep bench of comic-book knowledge. Robot Chicken turned that bench into a weekly gag reel.
The partnership with Green has lasted because both men like toys, jokes, and the sound of a punchline hitting a tiny set.
