Full articleLisa Read Bloom (born September 20, 1961) is an American trial attorney specializing in civil rights, entertainment law, and high-profile litigation, often involving allegations of sexual misconduct. The daughter of prominent attorney Gloria Allred, Bloom graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles and Yale Law School before founding The Bloom Firm, a practice handling civil, family, and criminal cases across multiple states.
Bloom has represented accusers in cases against public figures, including contributions to settlements with Bill Cosby's estate and the ouster of Fox News host Bill O'Reilly amid harassment claims, as well as victims of Jeffrey Epstein. Her representation of accused individuals, such as film producer Harvey Weinstein during early stages of accusations against him, drew widespread criticism for strategies aimed at discrediting accusers, which Bloom later described as a "colossal mistake" and apologized for. More recently, she has taken on accusers in the Sean Combs case while facing separate legal challenges, including a lawsuit from Guess co-founder Paul Marciano alleging extortion via threats to publicize unverified claims, and a settlement over alleged misuse of COVID-19 relief funds by her firm. Bloom has also authored books on legal and social issues and served as a television legal analyst.
In brief
Lisa Bloom built a practice on the cases that land on the front page: a comedian’s accusers, a newsroom’s secret settlements, a leaked tape. Daughter of a famous feminist lawyer, she made a name that did not need the footnote.
Not every choice aged well; she has said so. The useful remainder is a firm that still takes the call when someone needs a lawyer who has already been in that storm.
