Story

Grigori Voitinsky, born Zarkhin, was still a young revolutionary when Moscow sent him to China. He arrived just before the Chinese Communist Party’s founding and helped connect local radicals to an international network.

History later grew much larger than that first meeting. He remains a Jewish name in the origin story of a party that would rule a fifth of humanity.
